Have you ever encountered Scrapie?

Appears rare, thankfully... still thinking about what I'd need to do as a nurse if I had to sterilise instruments as a result of even potential exposure... I had seen the references in the link you posted beforehand, so it gave me some confidence I had found a trustworthy source of information (thank you).

Yes, I know the likelihood of needing this information is vastly remote. Just, well, I got into the instrument cleaning groove and happily deployed the philosophy "you never know when stuff might be useful"

Thanks for the link. I'm interested that's all! I had been researching instrument sterilisation protocols and discovered I wasn't up to speed about prion sterilisation. Thought it would be good to know more... especially what is actually done in practice...

Why? I have zero concerns.

When the BSE/CJD was at its height human medicine moved to disposable instruments, with a lot of complaining that they were poor quality.
