Luckily I have found an alternative, I am doing a Garbo. The cat is booked in at work for the weekend (apologies have been made in advance because I know he is a little git) and the holiday countdown is on! Wide and wild seascape and sky with wildlife thrown in. There's a couple of pubs too. If you feel brave then you can get a boat out to the Farne Islands to seal watch and at certain times of the year, puffin watch. The priory has a small visitor centre... There are guided tours of the island if you're up for it and run by locals so very interesting and quaint I seem to remember...

I adore Northumberland. You'll have a great time chilling and contemplating. I am jealous!

I was originally going to join an organised group but then I heard about somebody I already know who is going on the same group. Think I will take a decent book and my knitting with me and turn the phone off, I have hip issues so will take my stick and decent shoes and binoculars as somebody has mentioned the bird watching is good there . It was either this or a weekend camping on Dartmoor

RE: holiday venue
on what to take with me
Take someone or something to do! I've been to Lindisfarne and it's very quiet, it's cut off for a part of the day. It's not that big or difficult to walk around so you don't need hiking gear, decent shoes would be fine.

I'm more of an activity type guy so not much I can add. What are you looking for from a holiday? Are you going with anyone?
