I locumed in wellington (absolutely beautiful city) got $24 an hour. I managed to save a lot of money by pet sitting, i was inundated with owners wanting me to look after their animals and literally paid nothing on rent for a few months whilst i was there. Hi,

Not worked in the industry there however spoke to a few people about to when I was there.

Vet Nurses start out on around $33,000 per year there and around $38,000 upwards after 5 years experience.

In comparison to the cost of living that Wage in Wellington or Auckland is going to be very difficult to live on.

Rental cost of a 1/2Bed flat : Approx $500 per week

Bills around $150 per month

public transport in Wellington for the train was $40 per week (10 trips on the train)

food: v.expensince for example milk is $3.40 For 2L, veg prices fluctuated but a pepper reached $4.50 each and tomato’s $5 per box, pack of chicken (4 breasts) around $12

of course there are ways to minimise bills such as sharing a flat with other people ect.

Beautiful country but I returned home as I have a better quality of life in the UK.

speaking To other KIWI’s they say minimum to not struggle/ have an ok quality of life is $50k per Annum.
