Im a clinical coach with my first ever student and the college have been in touch to arrange an observation
I’m feeling extremely nervous about this and just wondered how I could prepare for this as I’ve no idea

RE: College observation

Don't worry about it, it's mostly just box-ticking!

Make sure that you have a brief plan written down regarding what you are going to observe your student doing. Whilst you are being observed, make it clear to the student what you are asking them to do, and what they will need to do in order to pass (e.g. 'You will need to correctly set up the endoscope, and you will need to achieve these 5 steps in order to pass, as well correctly answering 5 questions')

The main thing that the college bods will want to see is that you have taken the time to plan it.

Maybe this example will be helpful -

Training and Assessment Plan for Monday 19th December 2016

VN13.14

Clinical Coach –

Student –

To take place at -

Review prior knowledge – capnography (setting up, using, indications for, types, advantages)
