I'm just started doing weight management clinics, its something I've dreaded because I really don't feel confident in doing them. Does anyone have any tips/tricks for weight clinics?

RE: Newbie to weight clinics

Get in touch with your reps for materials e.g. booklets to track weight, posters, BCS charts, food diaries etc.

Give yourself plenty of time, I usually allocate at least half an hour for the first appointment.

Take before photos!

Advise the owner to use scales for the food but then get them to bring the scales to their appointment to calibrate, had a weight clinic recently who had been trying for AGES to get the cat to lose weight, checked her scales and she's been overfeeding accidently that whole time.

Continuity of care is important, try and keep weight clinics with the same nurse each time if possible.

Enjoy!

RE: Newbie to weight clinics

DEFINITELY get in touch with your food rep, they'll get you sorted with plenty of bits and pieces to help. I seem to do nothing BUT weight clinics, I'll send you a PM with all my protocols, hopefully they'll help you out!

RE: Newbie to weight clinics

Hi
