ha - phone call this week to tell me that phenoleptil is back - about 3 weeks after we decided forget it and swapped to Epirepress . Will we be going back to it - nope.

[/quote]I think a lot of this is to do not with a shortage of raw materials but more down to various drug companies getting into bed with others and spawning a monster, that and other companies selling off product licenses. If you get one company that has a product license for two products that do essentially the same then one of them will go. If a company buys the license to a rival medication and they have spent an arm and a leg promoting their own brand I guess its common sense to kill off the rival product. It might be perfectly legal even if its not the way it seems. The bigger the various companies get the fewer the choices that will be available. From the checks on my shelves today one company seems to be disproportionately represented on the OOS list and interestingly its the same one that seems to be growing the fastest and acquiring products

when i get into work this morning if its quiet I am going to list all products I have problems with and alongside who produces them - that way when I do a ring round I can find out about each companies products in a single hit - will report back anything I find out

Don't get your hopes up Covetrus told me yesterday when I queried again that is is discontinued. Perhaps somebody from Dechra would like to comment? I'm done chasing it up - swapping everybody onto epiphen

definitely have leaner stocks on my shelves - with loads of tabs on the shelves saying discontinued, oos no date, short dated, use x instead, don't even ask!, you got to be kidding. - and I still have vets trying to dispense non existent canaural and telling clients we will order it in and should be in tomorrow - no it won't. As the song goes Tomorrow Never Comes. I know it isn't all down to the wholesaler the producers themselves are just as bad. Just encourages me to look elsewhere, find things cheaper and not go back

Looking for the positives, all these medication problems should mean pharmacy shelves shouldn't look too bloated and the stock take should be much easier

I agree though HS/CORFECKLESS/Animal Health or whatever they're calling themselves have gone right down in my estimation, they cannot tell you anything anymore about products that are not currently available, leaving you to go on a wild goosechase, like there arn't enough challenges in the average day!

Good customer service is a dying commodity in the Veterinary Industry, well US getting good customer service anyway...

Hi Sal, for the time being all scripts need to be written out to "AH UK Animal Health (Pvt) Ltd" that is the legal name for Covetrus. Which town/city is the practice located that you work in? I'll look into the fastest way of getting your script back to Head Office whether that be with your driver or to carry on posting. Thanks :)

we post our scripts. might have to look into this. Yes Pardale is another of those PITA medications on my list. Why is it you can have stuff sitting on the shelves till it goes out of date and the minute you mention it is short supply and I can't get more every vet in the building wants to dispense it. Pardale seems to be in fashion again - will have to check over on the vet forums and see who has posted what. I like to keep one step ahead of the game with our lot.

I will put money on it tho as soon as the B12 comes back in that everybody is screaming for (well perhaps a bit of an exaggeration but certainly there are a couple of them getting a bit noisy and persistent) nobody will use it for about 6 months.

I used to love keeping things ship shape in the dispensary stock levels all just so - and finding alternatives when needed but these days its a nightmare

Sal, are you posting your CD forms to covetrus? We normally hand ours to the driver and he delivers them for us when he gets back to the warehouse, so things get processed and we get the order the following day.

agreed - but have to say after mentioning how dischuffed I was with them yesterday they did manage to deliver part of my cd order this morning. The effalump has its painkillers (interestingly it had a reduced dose yesterday as it ran out but was still comfortable - so ? it really needs so many)

We've been in the same boat, for both bloody CDs and with so many products being on back order. It's ridiculous to me that we don't get any warning from manufacterers about upcoming shortages - I understand that they don't do it to avoid stockpiling and making the issue worse, but it makes our lives impossible sometimes.

Also, have you noticed that HS's customer service isn't as good since they became covetrus? They used to be great at calling me as soon as I submitted an order about OOS products, which gave me loads of time to find a new one in time for the next day. Since they switched I don't know somethings not in stock until it doesn't bloody arrive the next morning, by which time I've already got an owner breathing down my neck bc they left it until the last second to order their meds!
