As part of the statement, it also calls for an expansion of the role

RE: BVA, vet-led teams and RVNs
To be fair, it's not me that's missed them - if anyone, it's the RCVS/BVA!

I suppose one of the main things I wonder is how much the allied professions (other than RVNs) want to be led / ruled by veterinary surgeons. Some I would guess are more comfortable with that than others.

Sorry I didn't mean you personally. I was referring more to expansion of the RVN role. Most radiographers work closely with Dr in Human Healthcare, so guessing they are happy to work closely with VS too. Physios don't work so closely to Drs. If there is to be an advancement with the role of the RVN this needs to be done with implementation further education, hopefully these new qualifications that are being talked about currently they will be suitable for advanced practice for the RVN

RE: BVA, vet-led teams and RVNs
The major one you've missed is radiographers.
i looked at doing veterinary physio or osteo courses but most i looked at you had to do humans first, not something i was interested in doing!

A number of ex human healthcare radiographers are employed by veterinary practices particular in the area of advanced imaging, CT & MRI. I feel that with the right courses and training this is an area that nurses can completely fulfil and carry out those tasks that are currently being performed by radiographers. Hopefully the new proposed Advanced Veterinary Nursing Certificates will help Bridge the gap between veterinary nurse and radiographers and maybe allow this to be available to radiographers, as I know that they want some more veterinary related CPD that is accredited. This is similar for physiotherapy, again a lot of this is carried out by ex human healthcare physios who have undertaken extra veterinary training. There is no reason why these courses couldn’t be available for both veterinary nurses and allied healthcare professionals.
