That started happening to VetNurse years ago, and more recently on VetSurgeon too.
I've talked to a lot of vets about this, and along with my own experience, my belief is that

RE: Need your help with brainstorming
Only just started on this site but already liking the layout and the forum threads, i can see this becoming a regular checking ground for me. As a nurse of almost 2 decades of experience i think i should be able to help the younger (in experience) nurse with issues but also be taught things i haven't learnt yet.
Excellent, welcome!
Something along the lines of notifications of threads with tags of your interest, notifications of activity on threads you are watching/helping out or have started.
Yup, that is something we are looking at, at the moment. We're just upgrading the site to the latest software platform first, from where we can start building from ...
This may help get closer to FB times but i doubt (please prove me wrong) that we can equal or better them
These days, I'm not trying to match fb - what I am trying to do is create a better quality experience more in keeping with professional clinical discussions. In other words, fb great for the majority of the sort of general discussions, and over here being the place for the sort of more considered, detailed, qualified and thoughtful discussions that clinical subjects really demand.

FB is good for the speedy turnaround as most of us have it on our phones, so first suggestion would be an app for the forums on your phone. Something along the lines of notifications of threads with tags of your interest, notifications of activity on threads you are watching/helping out or have started. This may help get closer to FB times but i doubt (please prove me wrong) that we can equal or better them

RE: Need your help with brainstorming
a plus for me on FB is that it is quicker to get a reply to a question sometimes
I'm working on that!
greater interaction between vets and nurses over cases ,which we don't get a lot of here unless Apache is around - which is a bit sad really as we all have to work together
That stems from the fact that when I set these sites up, I felt they were such distinctly different audiences that the forums should be separate communities, whereas on fb there are groups set up for both.

I don't think vetnurse or vetsurgeon should combine into vetnurgeon (or vetsurse for that matter), so I don't think these communities will ever have as much interaction between vets and nurses, but I will give some specific though about getting greater vet input.
fb has a quick turn around but also risks getting shared to public groups.
There's a risk with anything posted online being shared, wherever you share it, but yes, I think the likelihood is greater on fb than here, both because of the ease with which you can share stuff and the numbers.
Had to pull away from all Veterinary stuff on Social Media because the misinformation bandied about was ridiculous!

Here someone will offer something and either supply the support material to go with it or will supply it when asked, I'm always much more likely to trust information here.
Now THAT is wot I is tawkin abart.

Seriously ... in the facebook era, I think there are two vital roles that VetNurse (and VetSurgeon) can play. The first is in facilitating a better quality of clinical discussion, and the second is helping to cut through the clutter (there are so many metoo posts on facebook where people just say the same (often inaccurate) thing again and again.

Hence the special interest groups building here, with contributing experts who are transparent about who they are and their level of expertise. And yes Ben Ogden, also thinking about including a new feature in the forum which actually invites contributors to back up their post with a link to a reference.

RE: Need your help with brainstorming

I chose Other...#

Facebook is rife with "information" based on opinion or because our 'practice has always done it this way' and people are unwilling or unable to provide evidence to back up what they're saying. 'Gold Standard is....' BUT WHY!! Don't say Gold Standard unless you can back it up!!
