Am wanting to re-vamp our brooms/mops etc as they are awful, but not sure what type is considered most appropriate. My previous practice used to have the old style string

RE: Cleaning equipment

enigmaticat-uk

Seen both! Depends on where used...theatre was mopped and then squeegee'd afterwards between ops. Dried super quick.

Prep was mopped and allowed to dry except when suffering from an acute spill when it was squeegee'd after mopping.

On occasion, just fluid on the floor and then squeegee'd around for a super fast and dry clean (usually consulting rooms between patients.

Walls and kennels got a steam clean.

Glass was squeegee'd after a cleaning cloth wipe.

This is the sort of thing I have seen used in Referral practice...

... Any good?
Thanks for these - that's very helpful. Are the squeegees used in conjunction with something else for the actual cleaning like a mop then squeegee'd after to dry - or is disinfectant poured around & the squeegee used to clean/dry at the same time?

RE: Cleaning equipment

we hoover and mop after morning surgery - but evening surgery when there are less staff about and you have the client in who wants to relate their whole life story and those of every dog/cat/ other they have ever had or the 6pm 'off colour' that turns into full bloods, xray, endoscope and anything else you may care to mention (we close at 6.30) then we sweep with the brush. Because its quiet , unlike Henry the hoover, if we can spare somebody to start sweeping and mopping in areas that aren't being used we get on with it so somebody gets a chance to leave on time.

Rubber broom - the JML one is pretty good, cost about a tenner and have the squeegee on one edge. Mops I like the kentucky type which you unclip and chuck in the washer

RE: Cleaning equipment
We do hoover some areas of the practice but I think it would be far too noisy & freak out the cats to hoover the kennels.
We do, never seem bothered. Some dogs bark at the hoover - I know our terrier does. The cats not bothered.
Why brush when you can hoover and why mop when you can use a scrubber/dryer and do a better job? I agree brushes and mops outdated.

We do hoover some areas of the practice but I think it would be far too noisy & freak out the cats to hoover the kennels. As for a scrubber/dryer - had never heard of them but having looked them up, I doubt the boss will be forking out that kind of money!

RE: Cleaning equipment

We used semi-diposable mop heads and wash them after every use.
