Teddy bear surgery, how to become a vet/nurse, kids quizzes, and bandaging the teddy bear/obliging staff

RE: Practice Fun Day Ideas!?
We sold tickets in the weeks running up and on the day. Had a little sign in reception and reception were happy to take details and money from clients who wanted tickets. We also sold quite a few tickets to staff. I think tombolas are good for smaller prizes, like bubble baths etc - (staff may donate xmas unwanted gifts for that) but a raffle is good for any higher value prizes you might have, like restaurant vouchers etc, so you could do both depending on what prize donations you get??

One of the girls contacted Buy-a-Gift.com and they donated an bungee jump experience voucher for a raffle we did another time - so worth contacting the bigger companies like that - they can only say no! I also managed to get an overnight stay with dinner and breakfast from a lovely local hotel for a raffle once. It is free advertising for them, so they are often happy to oblige!
That's fab, thank you so much for the help! I think we'll probably be doing a bit of a combo too, so good to know that that does work! That's a good tip about contacting bigger companies - we've been keeping things local and managed to get some pretty good prizes, but I know I hate participating in raffles with rubbish prizes so the bigger the better!

RE: Practice Fun Day Ideas!?

@jojofruits That's okay, it's still helpful!
rigid endoscope into a plastic bag full of toys so people can look through and see what's inside

Set up theatre with a soft toy patient so people can see what its like when you're set up for surgery

Something on a microscope for people to look down and guess the parasite? - a flea or something

edtied to add - sorry didn't realise this was away from the practice! I'll leave it here though in case its useful for someone! :)

How did you guys all run the raffle? We can't quite decide whether a traditional raffle or a tombola-style set up would be better!

RE: Practice Fun Day Ideas!?

We held one a few years back, it was a great success!

Along with setting up the theatre with mannequins and fake ops, we held a raffle and donated the proceeds to charity. We asked reps and local businesses for donations and they were very generous. We were given restaurant meals, optical vouchers, toys, pet food etc!

We also invited a local dog trainer who did a display with her dogs; a wildlife guy that had meerkats and reptiles; we had a couple of local animal charities running stalls with gifts, tombolas, details of animals for rehoming etc.

We offered reduced price microchipping on the day for dogs (pre-microchip law!)

We roped in staff from other branches who ran a tea and cake tent and blew up loads of balloons with the practice logo on. We had face painting (one of the talented nurses did this)

We also had a room dedicated to the history of the practice - old black and white photos, old instruments, handwritten appointment books etc (our practice had been running since the early 1900s)

We were only a small branch practice, but we had a lot of help from the other practices within the group. It was a fab day and we raised around £500 which we split between Cinnamon Trust and a local cancer charity.

Hope this gives you a few ideas

RE: Practice Fun Day Ideas!?

adapt an 'operation' game, how many fleas (jelly beans) in the jar - the good the bad and the gory, always goes down well, (pics of parasites- parasites under the scope, pickled parasites) interesting xrays - get them to find and identify the fb
