I am not eligible for a working visa anymore but am qualified as an RVN for over 2 years and am seeking a change,

RE: Sponsorship Australia

Doh! just realised we already conversed on another forum thread! Happy to get a PM from you if you decide to look for Bermuda at some point - I am here on my second stint (SPCA rather than practice) but I am happy to tell you about the realities etc of being here and also the immigration process. All 4 SA practices advertise on here I think. I happen to have a huge respect for the Bermudian people - they are a decent bunch and I say that even bearing in mind I deal with confrontational situations as part of my job. It's an interesting and beautiful place to live, though a tad small (just slightly longer than a Marathon) and for such a small place its relatively easy to get stuff from the UK and USA. I think any PM you send me on here should pop up in my hotmail as well, so I should see it even if I am away from the forum.

I think you may find it difficult to get straight into a sponsored role, as it comes as a hefty expense for the clinic that is sponsoring you. I have only ever seen international nurses sponsored after having worked on a different visa first and proved their worth to the clinic. It is a lot to ask an employer to sponsor you when they don't know you.

I would also be very wary as you would then be tied to your job and unfortunately, some clinics will take advantage knowing that you cant really leave. If you are serious about working is Aus, your best bet would be to apply from home, then organise 3-5 day trials (unpaid so you aren't breaking visa laws) to get to see if you are a good fit for the clinic before committing to anything.
All the best x
