? dont see why not. no different to doing it employed from the practice as to DPA 2018 (which is the UK ratified version of GDPR)

hi do you still do this i'm interested in this type of option after 15 years in practice as will be more suitable for my lifestyle now. which company do you work fo? any ideas who i could get in touch with to see if they need more people to do this ? thanks

I understand your pov Welshynurse it wont work where you are; but tbh a quick scan, attach patient file and load to a USB stick should only take a minute or less. If the practice did this for all claims received on receipt +/- and the data is secure then I can see it working for quite a few practices. The time spent examining and processing the claims by the homeworker surely saves valuable time for nursing or other duties by the practice staff?

As I said originally, just an idea. Good to iron out the wrinkles! Thanks

Bit of faff though. Would be quicker to do the claim form myself! I think it would be more trouble than it's worth. If you have so many coming in the practice, surely it's better to employ a claims person that works from the practice. Easier to refer to the vets if needed too.

Suppose it depends on the practice but I wouldn't do it.

And how would that be monitored? We had practice inspections to make sure our systems, filing, sensitive data and PM system are all secure and GDPR compliant.

It's taking the paperwork with confidential info out of the practice that I think would be the problem.

Hi Maisy,

Working from home in insurance would be perfect for me! I did look into this before but I could only find 2 companies that allow work from home.

Do you mind me asking which company you work for and what kind of salary range it usually is? I'm not sure that I can afford much less than what I am on now.

If done properly I disagree. How is it different accessing the PMS from home or a branch surgery? I have a remote log in for our PMS system that is secure and password protected. Any paperwork at home would have to be locked away and not left lying around.

From home I can do anything on the PMS and even log the phone in via the internet and answer incoming calls. People think I'm in the office sat in my sitting room.

With remote log in to practicemanagement system and doing email claim forms it quite possible to do this safely and in line with for.

I work in pet insurance and do this as a work from home job. Not sure how many companies offer a working from home option but works well for me

Or do you like rabbits and small furries? I know someone who home boards them and is always fully booked, asking a premium for summer/bank holidays/Christmas, but busy all year round.

Just a curve-ball idea... how about approaching your local practice and asking if you can become their Insurance Claim guru/administrator? You could visit the practice weekly/daily (whatever) to collect the claims and work from home - linked to the practice computer? Dunno the logistics of that but maybe worthwhile asking - even it's a one day a week in the 'office' to go through the claims on the computer system and with the rest at home...

I tend to seek out the odder resolutions to a problem and then ask if it's possible... you never know!

Have you contacted vetfone? I worked for them for a bit but it wasn't for me but I know of a few people who enjoy it
