So I'm thinking about changing my career. I've been qualified 6 years and been working in practice for over 15 years and feel like the stress and physical nature of the job is not something I can see myself doing when I'm starting to get on a bit

RE: Alternative career for an rvn

my advice - if you have any hobbies or skills, ie something that you get pleasure from see if you can make it pay. I dabble in antiques and collectibles, particularly books but also I have gathered a lot of contacts over the years and the knack of being in the right place at the right time for vintage spares (cars and aircraft). I'm not going to pretend it will make me millions but it pays the bills sometimes. Working full time has meant my counselling and therapy has taken a back seat but if I ever had to pack in nursing (and was very close just a month or so ago with health issues) I could probably keep the wolf from the door.

RE: Alternative career for an rvn

wish i could find something additional to do to boost my income as i only work 30 hrs a week

RE: Alternative career for an rvn

and also this...

Loads of previous threads about this... type in Pet sitting in the search box. For example

https://www.vetnurse.co.uk/veterinary-nurse-forum/f/11/t/26171.aspx

Not sure if this still works / applies, mind you (2014, 2013 threads) - but over to you to do the further research!

What I DO know is that there is quite a lot of legislation now and certainly insurance costs (public liability for example) to consider... have a dekko at this website
