It is likely that this will be from 7pm Friday night until 8am Monday morning. Saturday morning will also be worked in practice as normal. Just wondering what other practices paid (first

RE: Weekend pay rates for nurses?

Hello Vanessa - did you employ a weekend nurse in the end?
Personally we have in the nursing staff's contracts that 'normal' working may include Saturday mornings. I'd either offer the extra hours paid or TOIL if I brought them in on a Sat. We don't have set on call but on the odd occasion we have called people in then we pay a minimum of half a days wages - makes it worth it for the nurse. I'd make sure they were on the equivalent of double time if in for longer. If they want you to stay at home and stay sober they have to pay some kind of retainer. If quiet OOH then I'd pick a decent fee for each call out (£50? including the first hour?). If you will be there a lot get a decent rate and make sure you get the Monday off at the very least.

RE: Weekend pay rates for nurses?

Hi

Years ago I was offered £200 to be on call from Fri pm right through to 8am Monday but this involved staying on site the whole time.....

At a previous practice I did on call 2 nights a week and one weekend in 3 and was given a bonus of £5k a year

Hope this helps
