Whether it's phoning or texting surgical patients from the previous day or phoning Millie to see how the new renal diet is going?!
Does the surgical nurse from the day before phone their patients

RE: Follow up Phone Calls

In our practice, we have the nurse on the early shift phone the owners the day after before 10am. On a Saturday, it's the nurse on duty. If the nurse is busy, they ask reception to make the calls.

As for everything else - seeing how an animal is getting on, the vets like to do this themselves. They usually put a reminder on the computer for a weeks time to call/email the owner.

We have 3 months post neuter weight check and dental check which a designated nurse on our practice emails/posts to clients.

All notes are recorded on the animal's file on the computer. Eating drinking, leaving the wound alone etc. We also record if there's no answer or left a message.

RE: Follow up Phone Calls

In my last clinic for post surgical phone calls one nurse appointment in the morning was blocked off for the early nurse to make the calls, about 9:15 so there was enough time to book them in if they needed to be seen.

Follow up calls to see how a diet is going etc would be added by the vet to the nurses To Do list on the diary and usually completed by the early nurse (2 nurse clinic)

RE: Follow up Phone Calls

we are only a small independent - its either a case of making a note on the diary, a vet request or in my case me just being nosey and wanting to know how fluff cat is doing. We don't allocate anybody in particular to do the follow ups but we are pretty good at making calls
