We do it as close to the end of September as possible, if it lands on a weekend we try to do it on the last working day. And I'm afraid I do it on my own and still have to do nursing and reception duties as I work at a one vet: one nurse practice. Keeps me on my toes :)

We do ours at the end of the tax year (?). Well it happens once a year and I always forget when it is!

Anyway, we all pitch in to do it, nurses and receptionists and even some of the vets will contribute! Nurses tend to do the back room stock and receptionists will do the off the shelf items but we all pitch in to get it done as quick as possible.

We do it during the week, I hate it as it just always gets landed on us with no warning, inevitably on a busy day when we all have better things to be doing - so nurses & receptionists just try & count what they can in between other jobs. I would much prefer to just come in & get it done quickly & efficiently on a weekend with no distractions & get a couple of hours overtime.

I ask for volunteers who want the overtime, and say if I don't get any volunteers, I will do a Rota as we do 2 big stock takes a year.

I've never had to do a Rota as always get volunteers

We do ours at the end of each fiscal year, NVS gave us a tablet which we input stock we bought from them on, we use a spreadsheet for other items - ie ordered from other suppliers.

It is always me that does it, which is fine because I manage the drug order. I think I'm just narked that it's a weekend again and the corporate states it can't be done at any other time. I get the impression from Facebook groups that it tends to be more of a team effort.

ours is last working day of the year, done by whoever is around. Its ok if all 4 of us are in - what happens then is we print stock sheets off and 3 will start the run around checking off stock and 1 will update and when we get so a good few sheets are completed we go to 2 updating and two running around. Its a bit rough if anybody is off but we can usually manage it in a few hours. Its a lot easy to do when we are closed

Since you don't think it's 'fair' I can only assume one of 2 things - you've been asked to do it and don't think it's fair OR you would have liked the overtime. Have you spoken to the bosses about your views?

Personally we have one receptionist in overall charge of stocktake and others help out. We will often do it over the course of a week during normal work, but our stock control is pretty good so I don't think it much matters not doing it at a specific moment in time.

If you are doing it when closed I feel the same people doing it would be best.
