More on dentistry would be good, including setting up and running dental clinics, advances in homecare, recognising dental disease, charting, xrays, equipment care and maintenance etc

Some sort of structured VN refresher ( possibly modular intensive done over a series of weeks or weekends for people who live far away to travel in maybe ) mainly for returners to the career.. for people who cant seem to find a local practice to mentor them through PSP ... Or possibly make some of the CPD you offer, able to be recognised as part of PSP hours.. so people can cherry pick the subjects they need to do for it.. and come to you for like a weekend course and cover that and get it signed off? that would be good :)

Definitely anything lab and parasite related!

Also dental, behaviour, nutrition (especially on the new fad raw feeding), wounds/bandaging, endoscopy

[/quote]We do run a VN Merit Award in Surgical Nursing https://www.bsava.com/Education/CPD/Event-Detail/dateId/1418 which covers:

Optimising the role of the surgical assistant
Suture materials, patterns and knots
Wound management & bandaging

I will look into seeing what we can do to offer further CPD on minor surgical procedures, as it is something nurses are well placed to do and we are definitely overlooked!

[/quote]Lab CPD is a great thought. When I was in practice, I was always preparing slides, dipping urine and running bloods, but didn't always have a good grasp on what the results meant for the pet! Thanks for the idea, Jo!

We do run a VN Merit Award in Diagnostic Imaging https://www.bsava.com/Education/CPD/Event-Detail/dateId/1416 which does cover MRI, CT and ultrasound, as well as radiography and scintigraphy. I will definitely look into other ways we could offer CPD in this area

What I have never understood is that yearly membership for the RCVS must give them an annual income of millions and yet so little is spent on providing CPD which we are told we have to do in order to remain members (unless I have been missing something all these years).
