You used to have to register a box of microchips when you opened them so that the company could trace who they were sold you, it's really upsetting that that's not a requirement anymore.

Could be worth getting someone to investigate those antibiotics. I've come across breeders who will import cheaper antibiotics from abroad and trade them between themselves for use with their litters, could be the case here.

This is very sad to heard. The poor puppy owners must be really upset. And I know we can they should of through about money before getting the puppy. But end of the day their just wanted a nice family member/ pet to join the family and been rid off. I wonder if we get hold of watchdog on bbc. Their would help push it forward.

tablets in a plastic bag - no label, and apparently no obligation for companies selling chips to keep a record of who they sold them to - its a really odd number but apparently legit.

same here - and have had quite a bit of resistance to that from the breeders. I just think its in everybody's interests that instead of leaving everything for the vets to sort out when things go wrong there should be some responsibility from the chip suppliers as well - that way even if the breeders don't register the chips the chips can still be traced back to who purchased them and those passing on duff puppies can be located that way. Its time to tighten the net on those that peddle misery.

can the chip co do a back trace on who the chip was sold to? I have located a vets doing this before. Sadly a case I know about was backtraced to a kind samaritian who chipped traveller dogs but the travellers didn't register them.

Chances are the pup was sold as sick from a BYB who used a burn mobile. I hate sometimes we (as humans) fall for the sob story cases and pass the money over to 'save' the sick ones.

When we chip, we register under the breeders details first. unless you can locate who was sold the chips I don't think anything can be done.

I'm fairly certain (dredging from my brain, need to look it up), it's a legal requirement to have the Veterinary Surgeries details on the label for the antibiotics and if there is a Vets name I'd be looking that up on the register for what practice they're at...

If there isn't a label, there is likely some underhanded stuff at play and the owners need to involve the police.
