Also what type of salary should I be asking for (I'm currently in a practice that will need a practice manager soon) and would like a rough idea on what

RE: Becoming a Practice Manager

I'm doing ilm level 3 leadership and management with ICS learn

RE: Becoming a Practice Manager

Have they offered you the positio?
i think salary will depend on the role you have, the level of reponsibility in the business, this should then be reflected in your salary Along with your experience. Look at CMI and CIPD for ideas on further qualifications as well as the already mention ILM courses avaliable through the college of animal welfare. I’m a clinical manager at a mutidiplinary Referral centre - very broad job description with key responsibilities and although package may apear good it’s very hard work not just with planned work but lots of emergent activities, I also work at strategic level which adds a further dimension and a lot of planning.

I think the main attributes you need are fairness, good business and personal ethics, good communication and organisation skills; people skills help a lot as your essentially managing people ether directly or via line managers.

Im currently studying management at masters level really really interesting - I wouldn’t recommend junping straight in to do an MBA though.

hope this helps a little
