I have never posted on a forum before so not sure how to start. I am an RVN who has only ever worked at one practice, nursing for 10 years, qualified for 6 years. I have had all my training at this one practice and don't know anything

RE: Losing confidence

Absolutely agree that teaching probably wouldn't be appropriate whilst you are feeling this way - I think you've got to have nerves of steel as a teacher / lecturer. Aside from the classroom, the workload that you take home can be overwhelming, and if you need some time to sort things out, you won't get that with a teaching job. I have every sympathy for you - I think you sound extremely conscientious. I agree with the previous replies. Definitetly talk about it with someone you trust.

RE: Losing confidence

I agree. You need to pinpoint what is making you unhappy and what is knocking your confidence. It kind of goes without saying that you do need to be quite self assured and confident to teach something.

Perhaps it is time to change jobs or move into something like teaching, but ignoring unresolved issues means they come with you. Is there someone at work you can confide in? Go out for a drink and chat things over? A solution may be just under your nose.

RE: Losing confidence

hiya,

lots in your message to think about but I would maybe start with a list of Likes and Dislikes to see specifically what's causing your work disappointment. For example, you mention being taken advantage of... Perhaps a chat with the powers that be to express how you are feeling might help solve that one. No one else maybe knows how you are feeling and if they did perhaps things would change and you could find your mojo again?

Alternatively, the same list could point you towards a career change. For example, a heavy emphasis to teaching... Start you off researching the How To (kind of what you're asking on here, yes?).

Another thing to consider might be depression or heading that way? A chat to your GP might help, so book an appointment. Sometimes being able to off load and talk frankly really helps. Sometimes we need something different to assist our well being. Worth checking.

i think that self confidence can be acquired by being happy. You definitely do not sound happy. I know it isn't at all easy to pull yourself upwards when you feel so crap but if you can, then tell yourself "if it is to be, then it is up to me". In other words, change your life by your own endeavour. Reaching out on here could give you some ideas to do just that... very good luck and be your bravest, strongest version of yourself to start your new chapter.

hugs
