Just wondering if anyone has any tips to entertain a group of brownies coming to our practice as part of their animal care badge? This will be their second visit to us. First time round we did the following:

Guess the foreign body xray

RE: Brownies practice visit

Fab ideas, thank you...

So far I've got the mystery poo game, which poo belongs to which animal? Good and bad diets for rabbit, what dogs need to be healthy and happy and a slideshow of xrays Guess what's wrong with my pet?

Fingers crossed all goes well.... I may need that darkened room! Haha :)

RE: Brownies practice visit

my tip a good stiff drink beforehand if you are a drinker ( or if you aren't , and I'm not, a little time in a quiet darkened room to give you chance to compose yourself)- small children in packs can be terrifying! - but seriously you could get them making up a cage for say a hamster (every practice I have worked at has at least one vacated hamster cage somewhere)or picking out the right bedding and food for a rabbit - most of them are going to encounter a rabbit or a hamster at some stage and these can be the most neglected pets ever - get them started on the right footing.

A quick session on how to recognise a friendly dog and one that is less likely to be friendly is also useful

RE: Brownies practice visit

some ideas...

What to do if you find a stray or injured animal

What foods, plants, substances are poisonous to pets - what is safe to eat/use

Guess the foot/hoof/paw (who does it belong to)

What to do if you see an animal alone in a parked car on a hot day

What to check for on bonfire night (hedgehogs in leaf litter/bonfire, caring for frightened pets due to fireworks noise)
