I'd love to get my nursing qualification but I can't see a way to do this. It wouldn't be possible to take a day out each week for college & the vet I work for doesn't rate online courses. Is there another

RE: Apprenticeships

http://www.caw.ac.uk/course/advanced-apprenticeship-in-veterinary-nursing/

I believe (could be wrong) that there are additional work place skills you undertake during the apprenticeship.

RE: Apprenticeships

Hi as others say ..there is the degree route where you do bloc in practice usually unpaid in the first two years.

Second is working in practice either full time or part time . ( min 2o hrs a week) it takes at least years to qualify if yiu work full time and pass all the exams both written and practical. If yiu work part time yiu do the same but will not be able to register as a VN until you have done all the required hours in practice , so allow another year .

CAW are doing NVQ but you work voluntarily in practice and go to college one day a week or yiu can do the block release in various centres around the uk.

To train as a VN yiu also have to have a vet or qualified nurse who is. An assessor to asses you're practical skills abd support yiu in practice .

I dont think there are any plans to have an online NVQ training as it needs to be classroom based As well as work based .

Yes tge AnA qualification can be done full or part time as an online course . You have a log book to do in pracficE too.

Hope this hhelps not sure if you're boss is supportive of you're ambitions ? If so I hope you can find a way forward .

I'm sure there are only 2 ways, One full time at college or university or one part time where you are working/volunteering at a vets and take 1 day out for college. I did go to try the first route but will be starting the 2nd route this year.

One is to work in practice and go to college 1 or 2 days a week. Is there a reason that this is not possible for you?

The other is to do a degree and do block placements at a veterinary practice, usually unpaid.

The veterinary practice has to be a registered training practice.

There aren't any online courses that will allow you to become a registered veterinary nurse.

You can do an online course that will allow you to become a veterinary care assistant and you don't need to be in a training practice as far as I am aware.
