I was just wondering what other practices do with regard to CPD. Do you get an allowance? Do you have to pay for hotels, travel, meals etc yourself or is that paid by the practice or deducted from your allowance? Just curious.... :)

RE: CPD

Contract states 2 day for nurses and £400 budget. Budget can be spent on course fees/travel/accommodation. Wouldn't generally pay for food unless a meal was included somehow (course with a lunch or evening meal, breakfast with a room), you have to eat at home or away.

Realistically there is no actual limit on budget or days as long as in the member of staff's benefit and useful to the practice.

RE: CPD

We get an allowance each year. If we want to do something outside of budget it will be considered if useful for the practice like a Certificate in CC for example. We pay for trains/hotels etc from the budget or pay ourselves. Depends on how much of the budget we spend. As for time off as long as we don't leave staff short it is given as CPD entitlement.

RE: CPD

IME depends on the practice...

At some - all paid for and a structured annual allowance and time off (paid), which could accrue so if you stayed at the practice you could 'save' for a 'biggie' (yay!)

At others - none paid for - tough titties ya on ya own dearie

At the majority - holiday might need to be taken and maybe the CPD is paid for... on an ad-hoc, apply for it and you might get it if you're lucky, basis.
