The practice was lovely, people seem very nice, but... they offered me £19k. I have been qualified 30 years and have an advanced diploma (and lots of other qualifications). I feel deflated and disappointed and a bit

RE: Wages.....again!

I think wage varies massivly on the area we decide to work in. Apparently 19k is a good wage for my area (Shropshire) and that is apparently according to SPVS. I have been very trusting (or stupid) in my boss, and hope that he respects me enough to not lie about what wage I should be on according to SPVS. I personally would think about what means more to me-a higher wage and being unhappy or being paid less but to be happy where I work. Oh and also being respected is a big point too!

RE: Wages.....again!

Gosh, that is low!

RE: Wages.....again!

it all depends what you want from the job. A high wage is often 'compensation' for a miserable workplace. It is incredibly rare to get a job that ticks both boxes for being a good place to work and offering a top rate wage - they come up maybe once in a lifetime. It also depends on area of the country, corporate or non corporate and if the practice really wants or can make use of the extra qualifications. I know for some independents 19k may be all the practice can afford

RE: Wages.....again!

Personally that seems a bit low, but some vet practices just aren’t willing to invest in their staff with fair wages! We are currently looking for nurses. Both day and night shifts available. I know that CVS have now said they offer 20k plus. I have to say I have negotiated a good wage with my current role. Good luck with your search
