It doesn’t help when our role is diluted down by some employers. For example allowing ANAs to monitor anaesthetics.

I have to to say I’m luck to work in a practice that appreciates its nurses and allow us to further our careers and take on new roles wothin the practice

We struggled for about 6 months and I ended up contacting the college when I knew nurses would be finishing their courses. Found 2 RVNs that way and now have a team of fab RVNs and ANAs. I’ve actually had calls from recruiters asking me if I need more!

It makes no odds about training more nurses, as when more nurses are qualifying more nurses are leaving the profession. Most places do train there own students now but the profession doesn't always keep them!!!

Or take on students and train them?

Since we became a VNTC we must have had 20 emails from students needing a placement and we are in the middle of nowhere.

Maybe cynical but grow your own rather than try and tempt those trained elsewhere.

Maybe practices should pay nurses more, utilise them more and value them more!!!!

Than there wouldn't Be such a shortage with nurses leaving left right and centre!!!!
