I was bitten by a cat very badly yesterday on both hands. After a trip to A&E, I am now at

RE: Injury whilst at work

Honestly I would expect that to be taken from your 5 days' sick leave entitlement - after all that is what sick leave is for. As someone who has 0 days sick leave entitlement and gets paid £0 for being off sick (other than statutory sick pay if I get a Dr's note which is nigh on impossible to get as my GP has a 3 week wait for an appt) I would be grateful to have 5 days available instead of dragging myself to work when ill.

RE: Injury whilst at work

Will be classed as sick leave.

Aw, poor you! Get well soon. Xx

My research leads me to understand that you are entitled to Statutory Sick Pay as a minimum; however your employment contract might allow for more or your boss might make an 'executive decision' if allowed to...

https://www.citizensadvice.org.uk/work/health-and-safety-at-work/accidents-at-work-overview/

Also, if you are off for more than 7 days the accident needs to be reported to HSE.

So, my answer is No, there's nothing in Employment Law that states the employer must pay for sick leave (other than SSP) or give paid absence without affecting a holiday or sick leave allowance. I think a conversation with your boss is a good idea!
