Another way to look at this could be to see what u need financially to live on and the structure of working u need (eg daytime only, part-week working, weekends only etc) and make approaches to the practices local to you with suggested offer. Never know til u try and, importantly, it could be the simplest solution...

i asked a local practice for pt 3days per week (10 hrs x 3 days) mid week and got a role doing this when they thought about how better they could run with an additional RVN... I never assume things are impossible. I just plan it, ask for it and keep going til I get it.

What are your further thoughts on this?

You absolute star - thank you this is very useful!

I'm not sure about hours (something I will have to think about) though I know I don't want to do daytime only because I miss flexibility in being able to have time in the mornings to do things etc hence the consideration of locuming. I've 'applied' to VetsNow and PDSA via their corporate online forms to locum with them but maybe I should just email them directly as well.

We are looking for a 9 month maternity cover starting beginning of March. It is first opinion practice but a fairly busy practice. 4 vets, 5 nurses based bitterne, Southampton. Just in case you were interested?
