Rationale: I am always trying to think of new ways that we can increase the effectiveness of VN as an information-sharing tool.
Forums work really well

RE: Information-sharing idea

question posed was purposefully 'odd' and easy to answer; having to think about the 'correct' response and possibly being wrong self-prohibits participation. I thought an introductory fun element would be more likely to encourage participation. Once people have the jist of how it works you can then introduce the real questions... Clearly u don't want it to be considered flippant but you also need to attract attention to start it off. Thus, attract with an easy and fun question that has no right or wrong answers... You could put a rider on it to state what your ultimate intention is.

To engage participation u need a gimmick or quirk to establish an initial interest. Quick and easy participation is the next step. Thereafter, now the How To (it's easy and takes no time) and Accountability (minimal?) are already tested and trusted by your (potentially) future participants; they are more willing to get involved as they have 'broken the ice' (fear).

So maybe not a question about Christmas, but a really easy VN related one... Erm, What colour uniform do you wear? Would u prefer a different colour - maybe feature a Unicorn coloured scrub top....everyone likes unicorns don't they?!

Ok. That's my lot. No worries if still unsuitable idea...

Anyone else??!!

RE: Information-sharing idea
try a quick fire out to 'all' to gauge response volume.

Do you like Christmas? Why? (max 12* word answer) *or whatever number u want

Thinking as you are asking for responses to your idea using the forum, (identified historically limited response/activity level), then it is essential to tap into the, thus far, silent but watching majority. To see if u do indeed get a bigger response
Hmm - that was thought-provoking post - thanks Alison Clare Hickman

Thinking about it, I'm not sure that testing in that way would produce a meaningful result, though. Firstly, I think the question has to be a 'proper' one (Like: "What is the correct flow rate" or something). But even if I tested that, I'm not sure it would produce an accurate result, as this is something that I think would grow with time, as people come to see what a powerful tool it is.

So I think it may be something I have to take a bit of a punt on ...

RE: Information-sharing idea

try a quick fire out to 'all' to gauge response volume.
