Sorry if there have been similar posts to this in the past
I have recently applied to volunteer in Thailand for Elephant Nature Park and was just wondering if anyone else had worked here and what it was like? Did they feel safe? Also how long

RE: Volunteering abroad

Be careful to check the welfare before you go, as it’s common place for the elephants to be “workers” in certain countries. I volunteered Sri Lanka, and although I had a good time, the ethics of the place definitely tested me.

RE: Volunteering abroad

[quote user="VetNurse Anon a/c"]

I have recently spent 2 weeks vet nursing at ENP - I returned on 6th November. It's a lovely place to volunteer and cheaper than a lot of other volunteer placements I have worked on. The daily routine is repetitive and mostly involves giving oral supplements to the elephants and cleaning the feet of those elephants with land mine injuries. You also get to work with the farm animals. I felt really safe there and they took a couple of days to reply to emails. Just double check the costs. They invoiced me the wrong amount as to what I had to pay on arrival and it turned out to be more as they forgot to quote me for my extra days there. Other than that all good :) Emma

RE: Volunteering abroad

Hello

I think you'll have an amazing time!!

You can use the search box at the top of the page, type in "volunteer" and get a LOAD of previous threads with recommendations of various projects - the world is your oyster, go for it!!!

RE: Volunteering abroad

Hi there

I've never been to Elephant Nature Park, but have volunteered in several countries, mainly with street dogs and cats. I run a facebook group for people to share information about projects and advice on volunteering, feel free to join and ask there as I'm sure some of our members will have been to ENP :) Best of luck with your volunteering, once you start it can become a bit addictive!
