Right - now I have my travel sorted.... anyone know of any cheap places to stay...? I don't ask for much do I!?

I've spent all morning looking and each time I find somewhere I read a review and they are apparently awful

try selling your extra tickets to passengers once you are on the outward journey - might get you something back?

they seem to vary in price throughout the day (ie searching at off peak is cheaper)

Thanks for all your help - I am a massive numpty though. I've booked them but was in the middle of a texting debate...well row with my sis and booked the freaking return for the same day.

Tried to change of cancel it - used all the credit on my phone to be told it would cost me £5 plus and extra £47.50 to do so!!! So I've had to buy more return tickets.

Still, in total it's cost me £38 for 2 returns.... just doesn't sound nearly as good as £24

I had to get coach ones too as so very skint. We can just sleep on them I guess

the £7is ticket is still available one way - go to National express website and make a booking under fun fares.

there is a bus leaving 04.35 - will get you into London at 9.20am costing £7 per person

or 06.25 - getting you there for 11.05 for a fiver each

or 08.25 - getting you there at 12.50 again for a fiver

megabus deps Exeter 09.15 and will get you into London Victoria (Coach) at 13.15 and will cost 16 quid for 2 seats

return cheapest option with megabus leaves LVC at 17.00 the next day and will arrive Exeter 21.15 and will cost 20 quid for the pair of you - there are earlier buses available.

Whatever you choose dont leave it too late or you dont get the cheap tickets.

Thanks guys. I was looking at coach as its cheaper. Thing is, I can't even afford £60 at the mo so I'm a bit screwed (my boyfriend lost his job). Couple of years ago we managed to get there for £7 each!

Coach will take forever and a day. The £60 is for single fares! Pretty good if you ask me

another tip is do not look for a return fare do 2x singles as that will work out cheaper. Both of these were given to me from the guy at the fares office when l went down to london for the rcvs day he was commenting on the ridiculous fares system.

The down side is you have to travel at the times you have chosen.

the cheap fares are weird. If you leave at 8am and end the journey at 09:30 that counts as a cheap fare.

If you start at 5am and say end the journey at 8am thats an full expensive fare.
