A lot of practices now tie employees into contracts. Either one or two years lost qualifications otherwise you’d be responsible for course costs

RE: Advanced diploma course questions

Sorry to hijack this thread but I’m also really interested in studying for it next year, everything I’ve heard about it has been very positive. Do employers commonly fund the course or have others self funded? If so does anyone know of any loans etc available? Thanks!! I'm definitely interested in starting the course next year at myerscough, if you can remember could you tell me when you applied and if it was online? I've tried to do it online but it reads an error message each time, wonder if I'm too early in the year to apply? Thank you!

RE: Advanced diploma course questions

I just started the diploma at Myerscough in Sept this year. It's a lot of work and I have had my moments already of feeling a bit overwhelmed with it but the staff at Myerscough are brilliant and very supportive. I feel like I've learned loads already! You go to college for a study weekend four times a year and course notes for each are released online once a week, so you do have to keep on top of it. But I'm already starting to think differently about what I'm doing in practice and why I'm doing things, and I think it will make me a better nurse in the long run!

RE: Advanced diploma course questions

I completed the Advanced Dip at Myerscough (which is combined with the HE Dip Clinical Veterinary Nursing) in 2014 and have found it hugely beneficial in Practice. I enjoyed doing it (extra work hatred aside!) and I then 'upped' it to the BSc in Clinical Vet Nursing after a years break completing that at the beginning of this year. The great thing is that your literature review can be about whatever subject interests you. And you choose your modules (can't remember the options - sorry) according to your preferences.

Staff at Myerscough are brilliant and helped me through my 'why am I doing this' and 'I don't have enough time in my life to do this' which are almost inevitable melt downs while trying to juggle work, life and study!

I am really proud of myself after actually achieving it.

I say GO FOR IT!!! Good luck!

RE: Advanced diploma course questions

Sorry I can’t hekp you out. I did the old style diploma. But felt it helped me greatly and made me analyse things completely different from my general training. It also looks good on CV for when you are looking to further your career. Many employers offer % extra for advanced qualifications. Look at what the different universities offer with regards to modules as I know some only cover certain things. Theres Myerscough and Harper Adan’s that offer the RCVS recognise diploma, which is similar to the one I completed and then the RVC offer the graduate diploma. I know the HA and Myerscough diploma allow for conversation to the full BSc.

RE: Advanced diploma course questions

Hi!
