I'm really paranoid about damaging mine, what does everybody else do? Is it practical to wear them in this career?

RE: Engagement/Wedding rings

Plan bands only. (and that applies to a snap-off lanyard as well...).

I leave the valuables at home and wear them when I am scrubbed up to go out (with the cement lavishly applied for my face filler, stick on eyebrows (#hairisme) and frilly frock on. Hahahahaha! #frightnight).

As a locum I tend now not to wear ANY jewellery to 'set the standard'.

For OSCE's = zero jewellery of any kind.

End of the day, it's about Health and Safety of patient and nurse so it is best not to wear it, yes?

Did once have to do a series of xrays on a staffy that had scoffed her owners large diamond engagement ring. With owner 'examining' the dogs excrement for the eventual 'find'. Well she found the ring (bent) but never the diamond... ☹
