expensive mistake if 1) it prompts a member of staff to feel they may be getting the heave ho and sets them off looking for another job 2) its a paid for ad which I presume it would be and there is in fact no vacancy to fill.

I can't be promoted as I'm already in a senior position anyway. I spoke to management and they have said it was meant to be have been worded a different way. I then spoke to someone else and they've said it was a mistake with it going up. So I'm still not really any more clearer to be honest of what's going on.

you say there can only be one person in the position advertised but what if it was the same position to cover an alternate shift? or maybe you are about to get promoted to something else (have you thought of that one?) which might just leave your position open for somebody else? Have a chat and find out what its about before jumping to conclusions. Communication skills sound like they could be something that you look at as a priority in your workplace if you do find yourself climbing the career ladder - and if you have any pointers in that direction feel free to share because they aren't fantastic where I work either.

Speak to you work, it might not be anything to worry about. ( I would take a screen shot of the post though, as I don't think they can advertise a post if they haven't discussed any problems with you, technically they could have constructive dismissal to add to their problems.

No nothing at all. Nothing has been mentioned or said. It's been out for a couple of weeks aswell. I'll speak to work next week but I wasn't too sure if they were allowed to do that without even tellong me.

No I'm not leaving and I have never said I was leaving either. I'm really upset that I've seen it advertised. I'll be able to speak to someone hopefully tomorrow but I just wanted some advice before hand just so I know where I stand and they won't try and fob me off. I'll have a look at that website thank you very much.

That's fairly horrible, no-one should find themselves in that position.

Is it known that you were planning to leave? If you weren't planning to go, I would speak to your employer ASAP to find out what is going on, but I would also contact ACAS (www.acas.org.uk) who can give useful advice about where you stand.
