I was under the impression that an animal would be brought in as a stray, and a log number was acquired if they needed treatment etc.

Unfortunately this is the way they are now running their emergency fund.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;My advice to you is to build up strong ties to your local RSPCA branch, they do not run off HQ funding, but grants and fundraising they do themselves. Makes it tricky as generally the MOP who brings the stray in doesn&amp;#39;t want to call the RSPCA in the first place, or hang about on hold, especially if its an emergency.&lt;/p&gt;
