Lol.
My question is
What are the 10 must haves for training? Anything from books to equipment to personality traits. :)
So far I have
1. Comfortable shoes

RE: Must have equipment
My previous vets only used to wear the crocs as their theatre shoes. So would you have 2 pairs of shoes, one for the mess of consults, and prep and another strictly for theatre?
Definitely! We don't do referral level surgeries here (no ortho or extensive soft tissue), so I've found I can get away with a really cheap pair from Amazon for theatre and use my comfier brand-names for the rest of the day ;) Either that, or give them a wipe with disinfectant and use shoe covers. It's not gold-standard, but if two pairs of shoes is just too expensive for now, it's a fine stopgap.

RE: Must have equipment

Ahh ok... I'l bear that in mind. Also a little diary is great for noting down all your cases from that day to log later.

RE: Must have equipment
In addition to your list Id add a little pocket calculator with a list stuck on to it with essential calculations and things like temperature ranges or other useful info.

Crocs from the professional range (without holes int he top) are an absolute must imo, as are spare scrubs in your bag!

RE: Must have equipment

In addition to your list Id add a little pocket calculator with a list stuck on to it with essential calculations and things like temperature ranges or other useful info.

RE: Must have equipment

You will need patience!
Books wise - BSAVA Textbook of Veterinary Nursing - the VN bible!!

As for equipment, I have in my nursing pocket; Notepad, pens, sharpie, scissors, artery forceps, thermometer, fob watch, an xray L/R marker. Then I carry my own stethoscope and I have sterilium bottle on a clip. I think it's a little OTT sometimes but I work in referral so always use it all! Shoes - would recommend skechers or crocs

RE: Must have equipment

I'm a minimalist so my list would be - a pen, a notebook, a good set of listening ears (as Judge Judy would put it) and keep your eyes peeled for whats going on around you.
