Absolutely check your freebies! If you're not sentimental\tied to your chip company it might be worth it ;) I third the call of a Halo scanner though, it's been a great wee thing since our Animalcare one died a death. Unless you get a few, make sure you have some kind of charging protocol though!! Nothing worse than coming to chip a kitten unexpectedly and the scanners out of charge D:

We got a halo as an additional one to our freebie from Tracer. Not cumbersome like the Tracer one. Had it about 4 years, still working fine & charges off a USB rather than needing batteries. Comes in a variety of colours. Not bad for £40
