Does anyone know where we can advertise for free?[/quote]

Well, I saw the title of this post and thought "Here we go again, someone trying to pull a bit of a fast one and post a job advert in the forum!"

But then I see you're being very, very subtle about it (ie not giving the name and address of the practice or any job details, just relying on the fact that someone interested may see the title of the thread and ask for more info ).

So I'll let this one go

Obviously I have a vested interest here, but some things to consider:

a) Does your boss know the cost of advertising (things have changed a lot since the days where the only option was to pay hundreds of pounds, even thousands, in a print publication)?

b) VetNurse.co.uk costs £99 + VAT for an advert that runs for 60 days (I think more or less everywhere else offers only 30 days). The thinking behind that is simply that lots of practices report difficulty in hiring VSs and VNs regardless of where they advertise, so whilst some will fill places quickly, I wanted others, particularly those in more difficult locations, to know they get longer on VetNurse and VetSurgeon if they need it.

c) Included in the price, we share all jobs over on the VetNurse Jobs Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/vetnursejobs), where we have another 1,700 followers or so. We also spit them out on twitter and linkedin.

d) Included in the price we also email jobs to members who have subscribed directly in the job section (https://www.facebook.com/vetnursejobs) and whose search criteria your job matches.

e) We also have 'Share and/or Reward' functionality to help you encourage other staff to share on their social network feeds

f) We have just launched VetNurse Profiles, using which, members can create a really professional looking CV and send it in response to job adverts here on VetNurse.

g) We are doing loads of ongoing work behind the scenes on search engine visibility, too.

And all this is only £99 - I mean, your boss isn't even going to be able to take the husband or wife out for dinner for that!

As regards free - yes, social media is probably the best bet, but normally individuals don't have enough followers that posting a job advert on just their own facebook or linkedin page will reach a wide enough audience to produce a result.

If you don't have the audience on social media, then the key to success is to post something which people want to, and do share: For example, something that is not just a job advert, but funny as well. It is possible to produce something funny that goes viral very quickly and for no money, but more often it requires a lot of hard work and thought. More than £99's worth, anyway.

RE: RVN vacancy

I would suggest social media

RE: RVN vacancy

If you do think of anywhere I would be interested to know.

Ive not had much joy on the sites you have to pay for either!

RE: RVN vacancy

Oh dear, I might be entirely wrong but based on this, the salary he might be keen on paying won't be up to much either?! On the other, positive, hand - he might be saving up to pay a healthy wage to the lucky RVN who comes on board! Hope it's the latter option!!!!

Sorry - I don't know anywhere that's free apart from a LinkedIn request/search but I think Arlo's rate is very reasonable!!
