(He kept budgies and I had cats) I was working in a large charity hospital at the time and very good friends with both of the local inspectors, in fact had assisted them on a few wildlife rescues and taken part in collecting information for them when they were trying to bring a case against a pet dealer by posing as a customer. Both inspectors saw the complaint for what it was but none the less I insisted that they check both of my 'undernourished' 5kg+ cats out.

My fear is also that the RSPCA could act without the say so of a vet if they deem the animal to be suffering - does this mean that they will now have the training to diagnose? because euthanasia is a permanent solution to a problem and you don't have to do a prolonged search on google to see how many times they have cocked that one up before.

But my main worry is that people who are doing wrong by animals and know that they are doing wrong will just be harder to find now because it will just drive their activities further underground.

RE: worrying?

I have had 2 members of my family that had the RSPCA called out them because their pet was in "poor condition". On both occasions they were receiving medical treatment but those family member lost faith because of reasons. But at least they were able to defend themselves. My fear would be if animals are being seized without a possibly legitimate reason for the condition is heard.
