Tonight ive got in from work and saw something turning its head at

RE: Pigeon cant fly

Fingers crossed for the Pidgie-Widge. The vets has checked him over (the receptionists face when I said i was brining a pigeon in was a picture ) and reckons he's a fledgling that just hasn't made it off the ground rather than being attacked by a cat.

Apparent from missing feathers and a bruised shoulder there's no major cause for concern. I've brought him home with me so I can be sure he does actually get to a wildlife centre and tomorrow/Monday depending on when places are open I'll find somewhere for him to go. The orginal plan was to do it today but all hell broke loose with my rats and ones ended up having emergency surgery to stitch his insides back in.... but that's a whole other story

I've offered him flaked corn and some canary seeds but he doesn't seem to be eating so I need to try and figure out something soft I can feed him don't want to stress hin out to much for now tho

Not sure what type of pigeon he is but some of his feathers are reddy/brown by his neck

Wood pigeons get very stressed and don't do so well in captivity..

Ditto above about calling rescue place....lots of them do take them In.

RE: Pigeon cant fly

If he has been attacked by a cat even if you can't see punctures will need a course of antibiotics. You can give Vale hospital in Evesham a call and get advice over the phone. They have someone onsite 24 hours a day that can assist you or even point you to a rescue nearby that will accept him.

RE: Pigeon cant fly

He will certainly need to regrow the flight feathers and have space to be able to build up muscle for flight. You can feed on mixed corn. Do check his crop to ensure he is eating on his own, you may need to crop feed if he isn't. Poor old pigeons often get a rough deal :( well done for helping him :)
