I've already let Sharon know, so for everyone else, just FYI, this is the reply I received from 'Thermometers Direct' when I asked why the glass thermometer I referenced above was 'Not for Medical Use'... Seems to be to implied it can be used just don't sue them if it breaks...

I do have a perfect, rarely used, glass one in my own medical cupboard at home. Circa 1982 I think... If u are willing to swap it with a new digital one (for human use so I don't fancy a recycled one, hahaha. Tho if I don't tell the husband... ), then mebbe I can help u? Let me know!
