Definitely do it, you will not regret it!

I have worked as a locum in Australia. For me i really enjoyed Australia but i didn't fall in love with the country, many people do so you may well love it. Are you a UK qualified nurse. As a UK qualified nurse (i'm not sure about other countries) its super easy to work in australia, just get the working holiday visa that you apply for online and all set to go. The UK qualification is just recognised over there so no annoying paperwork to do. By one week after I arrived in melboure i had been offered two casual jobs. If your happy to live and work anywhere in australia you wont struggle to find work :)

New Zealand is just as easy with visas and registration only difference is being so much of a smaller country there are fewer jobs and when i was looking I didn't really see much in the way of locum work. I think I only came across one locum agency and they had no locum jobs for veterinary nurses at the time. If you like farm animals tho there are lots and lots of jobs for farm hand - Particularly calf rearing which is a lot of fun and you get to use your nursey skills. Its quite normal for the farmers to hire in and off the farm calf rearer at calving season which starts in June every year.

Ive just travelled through South America but I was just travelling and not working. I would say that unless you were planning to work in Chile, Argentina or Brazil you wouldn't get enough money for your work to fund your lifestyle (and these are also the countries i didn't visit and i didn't have the money to support myself in these countries).

I would love to hear about your experiences of locuming as a veterinary nurse in Africa and if there is any other questions I can answer for you please give me a shout .

Katie
