It appears that someone (being an employee) has been stealing from our practice.
Money has been taken from colleagues personal belongings and pet charity boxes. And pet food and pet supplies taken

RE: Theft in practice

Thank you for all your help and guidance. The person involved got away with it being "brushed under the carpet " for so long they stole thousands from the practice. In the end they put CCTV in all areas, which annoyed everyone else but stood up in court once the person was caught blantantly stealing. Have you a local nice PC that could come in to discuss rising theft in practices. May just help stop theif with a guilt trip.

RE: Theft in practice

if you are not able to slove the situation ie, are in the senior or management level of the practice i would write a letter to the bosses and ask for a meeting.

in the mean time i would keep all belongings in your car or leave them at home. this way nothing can be taken.

if you have to bring things with you coat them in the infrared paint, when it goes missing who ever has taken it will have the paint on their hands when a speacial lamp is used. i believe you can use a woods lamp! try this out first.

if you need to i would involve the police. if money and personal belongings have been stolen its a crime and it needs to be investigated.

you could also mention in your letter and meeting that you will need to go to the police if matters are not resolved.

i know how you feel as i have had the same thing happen to me on more that one occassion from more than one work place.

i even mark my notes with my name now!

good luck.

RE: Theft in practice

I would second having a private chat with somebody in management - it may be that they are just waiting for enough evidence before they act. Is it a small practice or a large one? - if its a large one with a lot of employees it might be taking longer to narrow things down? Not a happy situation at all but hope it resolves for you soon

RE: Theft in practice

I'd have a private chat with management. While it might seem like its being brushed under the carpet, this might not be the case. Unfortunately without proof of responsibility its difficult to take action so even if they have their suspicions they might not be able to act on it right now.

I can imagine its probably a really difficult environment to be in right now what with all the speculation. Maybe they need to think about bringing in some security measures
