Yes there could be a bit of upheaval to start with - give it a fair chance and then make your mind up when the dust settles a bit.

The first time it happened to me to be really honest I felt betrayed - I was the longest serving member except the boss and had been with the practice from its very first day. I lived above the practice and was given a months notice to vacate because the new owner wanted the flat for some other use - even having found somewhere else to live I didn't stay long.

The second time - found out a couple of weeks before takeover, didn't notice too much difference at first

Third time lucky made a huge difference to the practice for the better, better working conditions and better rates of pay dependent on performance

RE: Advice on practice takeover!!

The practice I work at was taken over in May 2015. From our experience it's been for the best.

Some of the more difficult aspects of it involve a computer system change, change of blood machines, bi-annual stock takes and an awful lot of paperwork.

The vet at our place became Clinical Director of us and another local practice. Our standards have increased tenfold, mostly due to her input. The way CVS work is that they take over an already successful practice and run the practice similarly to how it ran before. They are in the background doing the financial/ H&S stuff, whilst the CD and Regional Director deal with the more clinical and business side of the practice.

Another benefit is the Healthy Pet Club scheme. It's one of those monthly loyalty schemes, but reception facing staff gain commission for signing animals up. It's really good value for money for the clients and is very popular.

Hope this helps

RE: Advice on practice takeover!!

i wasn't involved to much when IVC took over i joined about 12 months after, they did constantly moan that we were over staffed, eventually making the practice manager redundant (there were other issues too) but positives were in house training, reduced rates for things, marketing all ready and available. finance all in one office, bonuses etc. and a net work of vets and nurses to gain experience from. ivc have various favcebook groups.

RE: Advice on practice takeover!!

Hello,

Not CVS but IVC. Although everything sounds really scary at the first meeting, you dont actually notice much change to be honest! The big change for us was changing wholesaler, which was a bit of a pain but i guess it takes time.

Give it some time and try not to worry about it x
