Many thanks.

RE: Recruitment agency recommendations

Agencies are really hit and miss-Carlton Professional, A1 and Northern Locums are the only ones I'd recommend (they've been around for years, not just randomly set up by recruiters from other agencies).

As a long term locum I've found practices like the direct approach, and if you need agency support, go with one of the longer term recognised agencies.

RE: Recruitment agency recommendations

Hi there, a lot of employers only use agencies if they have to, so are always keen to here from candidates who take the time to apply direct (it means a lot to us, and looks good for you!). They also can find the fees off-putting too, so it always pays to go direct. At Independent Vetcare we have over 300 practices and if you contact the recruitment team direct they can sometimes give you a number of options. We have roles in Worthing at the moment, if this is close enough for you? Alternatively you can contact me at lcollings@independentvetcare.co.uk and I can see what there is on offer

Thanks

She is kind and really cares about your needs. She called me many times to make sure of what I am looking for and replied very quickly with few different clinics to apply for.

I also had a bad one but I don't remember from which agency. She didn't even call me before putting me in a shitty clinic that didn't match my needs at all.
I would go directly to the practice to be honest.

I have had bad experience and I know other nurse who have

[/quote]

yep happened to me. A nurse friend contacted me asking my availability for locum or if I would consider settling down in a permanent position. Interview arranged and then a locum agency that I had been registered with which had never bothered to contact me at all in the time I had been doing locums or offer me any work at all decided that as the practice had notified the vacancy to them and as I was registered with them as a locum they needed to be paid a finders fee.

Result = job that was advertised at up to 17k dependent on experience (and at that time I had 1st opinion, hospital, referral, HN , large animal and over 20yrs experience) was then offered to me at below 15k because the practice had to pay a finders fee. And then to really put the boot in having been paid their finders fee which meant I lost @2k they continued to contact me offering locum positions /permanent positions in case I fancied a change

Happy to name the agency - though most of you will probably know them anyway. I can promise them it was the most expensive 2k they have ever earned because anybody I know who does locum and that includes vets and nurses will now know to avoid them unless they are absolutely desperate

RE: Recruitment agency recommendations

All of the agencies I've used always ask me before sending my cv to a practice as they are not allowed to give out your details without your permission but maybe I've just been lucky and dealt with the good ones!

RE: Recruitment agency recommendations

I would consider applying directly too! Good nurses are in demand so chances are a lot of places are looking, making your chances pretty good if you just send a CV to all the ones in your preferred area (even if they aren't advertising).

Also consider that recruiters take a fee from the practice, so it would cost the practice considerably less to employ you if you approach them directly.

I have had bad experience and I know other nurse who have

Ones sending cv without ur knowledge and then threatening the practice that they will still charge if they employ me through other agency even though they sent cv first so than other practice with drew there offer

No communication or miscommunication

No replied back to my emails

I once went to a job as a locum and the agency will tell u one thing and the practice another which is really unprofessional

I ended up getting employed and work through my own efforts and not the agency

I don't want to list them but I did not have great experience with any

I suppose it depends what you are looking for in a position

I had specific requirements such as hospital or referral only so I can progress so maybe that's why they couldn't help I don't know

I would maybe just go through one if you would rather go through a agency as difficult to control where ur cv goes if go through several and a practice may than receive a few cv from different agencies which can be tricky

RE: Recruitment agency recommendations

Hi

ive not come across a bad agency tbh. Just register with a few and see what they can come up with. Most agencies have people that work on specific areas so you get one to one care. Some good ones off the top of my head are bvs vets, Carlton professional, jhp recruitment, leapfrog recruitment, recruit4vets, seven vets and synergy vets. If you google vet recuitment agencies they are loads!

good luck in the job search
