Just wondering if any of you work at a vets4pets and how you organise your rota with the weekends e.g. time off in lieu, hours per shift etc
Or if any one as a template?
As the rota is being done by the vet so we are looking to take it over

RE: Nursing rota at Vets4pets

You may be right Sal, I cant remember when I signed my contract if this was the case or not. You are however legally allowed to 'opt in or out' at any time without it compromising your position as it is deemed voluntary. Your boss is not allowed to discriminate or terminate your contract so long as it is put in writing and they are given notice. The link I have previously given tells you how to go about opting 'in or out'

RE: Nursing rota at Vets4pets
I think if you are contracted to work more than 40 hours per week, you may be contravening the 48 hour working week rule and need to either opt in or opt out, as it is taken as an average over the working year. You can find info of this on the .gov website: https://www.gov.uk/maximum-weekly-working-hours
the opt out was part of the contract when I worked at v4p - you signed the contract /you signed the opt out - although its some years ago so might have changed now
Sal is correct - still is this way. You can opt out but you have to give V4P 3 months notice in writing. Always felt this was a bit fast of them as you can't give notice of this before you start! Hey ho.

you aren't the only one who thought it was a bit fast - but it is legal. I signed my contract but refused to accept(in writing) the inventions/ideas clause because I already had a few bits and bobs on the back burner and didn't want v4p claiming the rights to them.

RE: Nursing rota at Vets4pets
Our rota is on a 3 week rotation, each doing a saturday and work out so it equals to 40hrs per week for these 3 weeks. We all work 1 in 4 with our vca working every other as a receptionist. We get a friday prior to our weekend off and a monday just after our weekend. Our head nurse has no days off as it makes her full monthly hours she is contracted to do. This is because we open as long as the shop below opens so both weekend days are fairly long. I nurse does the early shifts all week, one does the mid shifts and the other does the late. The 4th nurse does the hours that need covering. But with a part time nurse, two students and the vca, we tend to have fairly equal shifts. We can swap as and when needed as long as shifts are covered and the PM is aware.Hope that helps to give you an idea x
