We have a lot of hospitalized patients that will stay a day or a couple of days. They often come with their own blankets. The only problem is that we don't quite know how to label them, they often go in the washing machine and then we lose track

RE: Labeling patient blankets

We're a pretty small practice so it tends not to be an issue but if there's no time to wash it then it goes in a plastic bag & attached to carrier/kennel. If it goes into the washing machine then we just leave a note on top of the washing machine with a description & name so it gets back to them after.

RE: Labeling patient blankets

How about having a plain laminated sheet that gets written on when a patients blanket goes in.

EG) blue paw print blanket = Snowy Lowe.

If you dry with driers - same system, if you hang dry then you could label plastic pegs with the pets name on?

other option. putting the blankets into the zip up bags that you can out underwear in so it is obvious that it is a patients. All other blankets just go into washer etc as normal.

Otherwise we put them in a labelled carrier bag to put in front of the kennel and don't actually use it in the kennel to reduce the risk of it getting lost.

RE: Labeling patient blankets

We just don't take in patient bedding, leads etc.
