I've been at my practice for 3 years (from the start of my training) and I feel it is time to move on 1. because of the salary 2.
for the VDS insurance all you need to do is phone the number on their website and say you're a nurse wanting insurance. They then email you the application form which you fill in and return and then they will create you an invoice which you can pay by various methods. It's really quick, I got mine set up after a few hours

good luck with the locuming!

RE: First time locuming

Hi

i ended up emailing VDS and they sent me the info direct - I couldn't find it on the site either!

it depends on the clinic you are working at - they are all different! Some have a receptionist some dont! Back shift should mean you have another nurse on main shift though (unless no ones filled that shift!) Email the PNM and ask if you are unsure!

Good luck with your first shift!

RE: First time locuming

Hi Sian. Thanks for you reply.

I have been on the VDS website but can't seem to find how to sign up with them.

I'm looking into doing some Vets Now shifts soon. Could I ask about 'back' shifts? Are there two nurses with a vet and receptionist? I meant to ask at my induction but was a little taken back with all the info they gave me.

RE: First time locuming

Hi!

i started locuming last year - I only work for vets now so have opted to go PAYE rather then umbrella/self employed. I've taken out VDS cover for RVNs and it's £50.50 for the year.

Good luck!
