Is there anyone who has recently sat the RCVS osces that would be able to answer some questions about some of the tasks? I am an Australian qualified veterinary nurse that needs to complete the exams to become registered in the UK.
Thanks!

RE: OSCES Help

It's the same exam...

RE: OSCES Help

Hiya

It might be different than as we don't do a pre registration test

If you have to do the same osce as us usually you get these from rcvs or city and guild website

They have individual osce stations and you get given a scenario and than on the second page there is a methology which is listed in order of how the task should be preformed and some of the key areas are high lighted in gray which are the key areas that need to be correct to pass the osce

But not sure if your required to do the same as UK student nurses

I am also a nurse from Australia and needs to take the OSCEs pre-registration practical test. I go the osce tasks printed off but there aren't any grey areas...
So I have no idea which one is crucial to pass...
Could this test be different from the real one you guys from England have?

Thanks

RE: OSCES Help

Hiya

For the sake of the OSCEs you are not required to select appropriate scrub solution, clean and dry area prior to bandage. You are only required to select bandage materials and carry out the task of either bandage wound or splint depending which task they give you.

If not already done so you can print off the osce tasks which also gives a methodology of how the rcvs want the tasks to be done with the grey areas being crucial areas to pass.

In practice the most appropriate solutions would be diluted hibi scrub and dried with white roll prior to bandage but definitely for the exam it isn't a requirement.

Are you able to tell me what you used to clean and dry the sutured wound before you bandaged it? I am unsure what solution I need to use?
