This is especially important now considering the recent news about the protection

RE: Utilisation of RVN's in practice and the affect this has on job satisfaction.

Yeah I completely agree

I have contemplated leaving the profession many times and only don't as I have done this 16 years so wonder what else I could do.

I locum at different places and witnessed many times unqualified people being allowed to do schedule three and using the title Veterinary Nurse.

Yet I once went to a practice where as a Registered nurse I was not allowed to place IVs or take bloods and was just a glorified cleaner after having spent 4 years training to become a RVN and even longer trying to get my foot in the door to do my training

So it gets very frustrating to go to some practices and not be able to utilise your skills and on the other hand go to another practice and have unqualified people doing the same job as me

I know there is the VN future project but very sceptical about that

However I still feel like the profession has come along way but still along way off in terms of retention rate in the profession

RE: Utilisation of RVN's in practice and the affect this has on job satisfaction.

In my opinion RVN's are feeling ever more demotivated - our government rejected calls to make us a legal profession yet the RCVS are planning to make the CPD process more complicated. So we have non qualified 'veterinary nurses' who do not have to complete the 45 hours CPD and 'illegally' complete schedule 3 tasks (yes they do I've witnessed it many times) - no wonder RVN's choose to leave the register - it's not really worth the fee

RE: Utilisation of RVN's in practice and the affect this has on job satisfaction.

Done!
Thank you Arlo Guthrie. That we be fantastic if you could send it out in the newsletter! The survey closes at the end of February, around the 28th! I will not be publishing the results, however I can tell you a summary of my findings. Which would be around august time.
