All employees are legally entitled to 5.6 times there working week (28 days for a full-time employee, which can include bank holidays). When did you start working for the practice? If it will be three months completed at the end of December, you will be entitled to 7 days, less the Christmas bank holidays, giving you 5 days.

Hello there,

It does depend on your holiday entitlement. So, for example, if you are entitled to 20 days per annum then you would get a fraction of that for the period worked, irrespective of when in the year you work. See this link for accurately calculating what you are entitled to. This is the same calculator that any employer can use as it is an official one.

So, as an example... if your entitlement annually is 20 days, and you work a 5 day week; you start on 01 October 2016 and finish on 01 December 2016 then your entitlement is 4.7 days (rounded up to 5).

I work for a local authority and the way we work it out is divide your annual entitlement by 12 and that basically tells you what you accrue each month. So for example I accrue a total of 2 days leave per whole month worked, April to April. If I left my job in mid-June I'd have only accrued 4 days leave (2 for April and 2 for May) so anything I'd taken over that I'd have to pay back in my final salary.

I would've thought it was pretty much similar in most places although have found in the past that private companies sometimes have their own rules.

I would hav only been there 3 months and was told had 4 days hols to take till end of Dec which I have taken

Hi. Your holiday will be worked out on your annual entitlement and time in role so not a straight forward answer. If you've over taken holiday it will be deducted from your wages.
